Aderinsola, the single mother at the heart of DerinVsLife, works at a media company while raising her son Prince alone. Her ex Rogba neglects the child, so she visits him to suggest reconciliation, but he dismisses her, accusing her of manipulation. At work, she impresses her boss Gbenga with a proposal to expand the newspaper into local languages, yet colleague Folake reprimands her for using her phone during a meeting because Prince is sick. Gbenga later apologizes and offers to drive her home, showing concern. They grow closer, and he invites her to lunch, eventually asking her out. She accepts. During their date, she learns Gbenga also has a son living abroad. Meanwhile, Rogba continues his irresponsible lifestyle, spending money on prostitutes. He promises to take Prince for the weekend but leaves abruptly. When Aderinsola confronts him, their argument grows, and she forces him to take Prince for the week. That weekend, Rogba takes Prince to the beach with a female friend. In the chaos, Prince goes missing. A frantic Aderinsola learns from Rogba that their son has been taken. She grabs his phone and speaks to the kidnappers, who demand a ransom. As she attacks Rogba in desperation, the situation becomes a crisis. The police are not involved, and the couple must find a way to save their son. The story ends with Aderinsola and Rogba in a state of panic and anger. Their son's fate remains uncertain, the kidnapping unresolved.
