Storyline
In "Burnt Pride", Adaeze dreams of culinary school. After Christopher fires house help Agnes for minor mistakes, Adaeze becomes his personal cook, signing a strict contract. Christopher insults her for her lack of formal culinary training, leading her to quit. Shortly after, her mother's buka burns down, leaving them destitute. Urged by his fiancée Kimberly, Christopher rehires Adaeze at double pay. Despite the financial relief, Adaeze struggles with Christopher's abusive behavior, including physically assaulting Akpan. When Christopher offers Adaeze a permanent in-house position with a private room, Kimberly grows jealous and accuses Adaeze of being unprofessional. Kimberly's ultimatum forces Adaeze to consider leaving, torn between financial security and the toxic environment. Christopher begins to reflect on his actions after arguments with Kimberly about his anger and violence. He apologizes for his past disrespect and an unfair comparison to another woman. They reconcile and host a dinner for Adaeze and her mother, where Christopher announces that he and Kimberly will sponsor Adaeze for culinary school and help rebuild their buka, which also burned down. The film ends with a toast to new beginnings.
