10 Reasons Why

Femi, a widower, lives with his son Nelson in Lagos. When his old friend Ada calls about a job promotion in the city, she and her daughter Zio move in temporarily. Nelson returns home and is immediately drawn to Zio, though she remains distant. Femi and Nelson both confess their feelings to each other—Femi for Ada, Nelson for Zio—and make a bet: whoever wins the heart of his chosen woman first will make the other back off. Nelson begins taking Zio out and sharing personal stories, building a bond, while Femi tries to court Ada, who says she is not ready for a relationship. The competition seems harmless until Zio overhears Nelson discussing the bet with his father. Feeling used, she confronts him and retreats. Nelson explains the truth behind the rivalry—that his feelings for her are genuine—and Zio forgives him. Meanwhile, Ada has a heart-to-heart with her daughter and gives her blessing to the young couple. As Ada and Zio prepare to move to their own apartment, Nelson presents Zio with a necklace as a token of love. The film concludes with the two couples embracing, their relationships intact and strengthened by the trials they overcame.
