Biography

EARLY LIFE

Toyin Alausa (born on January 4, 1978) is from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, and was raised in a polygamous Muslim family headed by Mr. and Mrs. Alausa. She was an only child to her mother, the fourth among six siblings growing up in a nurturing yet challenging environment that hardwired strong values of perseverance. Toyin pursued English at the Ogun State College of Education before leaving after just one year due to an early pregnancy at age 17. She single-handedly raised her son while nurturing her passion for the arts, a testament to her unyielding determination.

CAREER

Toyin started performing young during the ’80s, doing plays at school plus small parts on shows – Tales by Moonlight made her stand out around ’97. She moved into Nollywood when videos took off, nailing both English-speaking movies and ones in Yoruba; standout gigs include Omoniyun, Omotara Johnson, Abuja Connection, while also killing it in Women in Power, Executive Crime, Beautiful Faces, later popping up again strong in Blackout (2021), then Wasila Coded Reloaded (2022). She’s worked as both a producer and a director on stories that blend culture with real-life issues. Off camera, Toyin stays busy speaking to crowds, hosting events, or running her own business – sometimes teaming up with names such as Bukky Wright or Dayo Amusa. Starting young – as a mom during her teens – she’s now a well-known figure, showing skill and impact across many areas.

PERSONAL LIFE

Toyin Alausa has never married, as she did not wed her son’s father, but has gloriously survived as a single mother. In 2024, she was overjoyed to become a grandmother when her son, Rotimi Muyiwa, who is now 28 and married, welcomed a baby boy. She celebrated with heartfelt thanks for the blessings of life. A devoted family woman with a vibrant spirit, Toyin speaks on motivation and community outreach in Lagos while balancing her professional pursuits with moments of quiet reflection and faith.
