Biography

EARLY LIFE

Jumoke George was born on 18 February in Ibadan, Oyo State. Her father was in the Nigerian military while her stepmother was a nurse who also worked for the military. Her mother and father separated when she was very young, and she remained with her father and stepmother. After disputes with her stepmother, her father threw George out of the house while she was in secondary school, leading her to shelter with friends. She attended Command Children School Ann's Barracks Yaba, Lagos; the Army Children School Kano; and the Anglican Grammar School, Orita mefa, Ibadan. George later studied Business Administration at Government Technical College, Osogbo.

CAREER

George was introduced to acting at age eight by a family friend. She performed stage drama with the National Television Authority (NTA) Ibadan and enrolled in a drama troupe there. Under the sponsorship of Victor Ashaolu, she entered the Yoruba movie industry. After an initial inability to progress in the film industry, George became a member of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), anchoring five live programs. She has since acted in both Yoruba and English language films in Nollywood and is also a film producer and filmmaker.
