EARLY LIFE

Blessing Jessica Chinomso Obasi was born on May 12, 1979, in Abia State, Nigeria, but grew up in Agidingbi, Lagos. She was raised primarily by her mother in a close-knit family, and her mother provided her with opportunities including attending prestigious schools. Blessing discovered her passion for acting through her school's drama club during her secondary education at Federal Government Girls’ College.

CAREER

After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at the University of Lagos, Blessing initially worked in the corporate sector. Despite financial stability, her passion for acting led her to resign from her job, facing initial rejections and financial struggles, including a director telling her she was 'too ugly to be in front of the camera.' Her breakthrough role was as Deborah in Niyi Akinmolayan’s critically acclaimed film 'Prophetess.' She has since appeared in over 112 films and television series, including 'Elevator Baby,' 'Momiwa,' and 'The Johnsons.' In addition to acting, Blessing expanded her career into filmmaking, creative direction, and writing, becoming involved in behind-the-scenes production. She established D’Esparanza Media and has produced several successful films, including 'Radio Voice' (2025), 'Echoes of Us' (2024), 'Pain & Beyond', 'Mercy', 'Helpmate', and 'Domitilla the Reboot'. She has worked with respected directors and actors in Nollywood.

PERSONAL LIFE

Blessing married fellow Nollywood actor Stan Nze on September 11, 2021, after about three and a half years of dating. They welcomed their first child, a son named Jayden Chimebuka Nzediegwu, in 2023. The couple runs a popular YouTube channel called 'The Nzes.' Blessing is two years older than Stan, an age difference they have openly discussed, emphasizing that age is just a number. She is also open about her Christian faith and credits it for sustaining her through difficult times in her career and personal life.
