The Way You Stay

The movie "The Way You Stay" opens in a hospital. Kane is very worried about his wife Jenny who is seriously sick. The doctor says they must remove her womb to save her life. Two years later, Kane and Jenny live in a beautiful house but Jenny is still very unhappy. One day she sees the maid cooking and suddenly fires her. She accuses Kane of bringing another woman home to give him a child. Kane is shocked and says he only went to take water from the fridge. They argue badly. Kane tells his friend Felix at the construction site how much Jenny’s insecurity hurts him. Felix advises him to be patient. Jenny tries to fix things by preparing a romantic dinner with candles. They share a sweet moment and say they love each other. But problems continue. Kane’s mother comes and harshly blames Jenny for not being able to have children. She tells Kane to take another wife. Jenny hears everything and feels very bad. Kane defends his wife but the words hurt deeply. Jenny becomes so sad that she falls asleep at work and misses an important meeting. At home she tells investors she wants a divorce. Kane begs her not to leave but Jenny feels she is a burden to him. Jenny’s friend Vicky tells her to leave Kane. Later they adopt a young boy named Junior. Kane is happy but his mother does not like raising “another man’s child”. Jenny becomes very depressed and starts drinking. She packs her bags to leave. Kane begs her to stay but she walks out. After the separation both are miserable. Kane is sad at work and at home. Jenny struggles in her new apartment. Vicky calls Kane and says Jenny is losing her mind. Kane goes to see Jenny. In the final scene, Jenny holds their adopted son Junior and tells Kane she wants a divorce. She believes she is setting him free. Kane cries helplessly outside her door. The movie shows flashbacks of their sweet young love in secondary school to show how strong their bond once was.
