The Prodigal Son

Godson mourns his late wife Gina, speaking to her portrait and promising to be a better father to their only son Jeremy. In The Prodigal Son Jeremy's reckless behavior pushes Godson to stage kidnapping with his brother Douglas and the housekeeper Maggie, sending masked men to seize him while Jeremy watches helplessly. Later Jeremy spirals further into chaos. His uncle Douglas bars him from the home, calling him a security threat. Desperate and broke, Jeremy steals his father's television to sell for drug money but is caught and brutally beaten by a family associate. Maggie's relentless tough love finally pierces Jeremy's defenses, and he crushes his cigarette pack, vowing to quit drugs and take charge of his life. Then Godson returns alive and reveals the kidnapping was a charade planned with Douglas and Maggie, a lesson driven by the doctor's warning about Jeremy's narcotics use. Overwhelmed with guilt and gratitude, Jeremy apologizes to his father's portrait and then to Godson in person, promising to be a better son and man. Godson embraces him and declares his son has returned. The family gathers for a joyful meal prepared by Jeremy himself, celebrating his redemption and the restoration of their bond.
