The King's Heart

The king's long-awaited son is born, but a prophecy foretells the prince will be infertile, threatening the succession. The queen, jealous of the maid Ihomah, banishes her and forces her daughter Olamma to serve the prince. Olamma grows up attending to the entitled and womanizing Prince Ifeanyi, secretly yearning for Afam, a handsome farmer. When the aging king reveals that Afam is his illegitimate son and could claim the throne, Prince Ifeanyi and his mother panic. They send Olamma on a dangerous journey to find the mystic Icheku to alter fate. Olamma endures hardship, losing her belongings, but eventually finds Icheku. He agrees to help but demands a sacrifice: the woman the prince marries must give up her womb. Desperate to make Ifeanyi happy, Olamma volunteers her own fertility and undergoes a dark ritual. Returning, Olamma discovers that Ifeanyi has just married another woman, Kosise, to secure political support for his coronation. Heartbroken, she reveals the sacrifice she made. Meanwhile, an old woman (Ihomah) and her grandson Afam appear before the council of elders, claiming Afam is the late king's true heir. Prince Ifeanyi erupts in anger, refusing to step down. The elders are divided, and the prince storms off, leaving Olamma in despair. Olamma confronts the prince, telling him she gave up her womb for his throne. The prince apologizes and begs her to marry him, but Olamma rejects him, saying he broke his promise. She walks away, leaving the prince alone to face the consequences and the uncertain future of the kingdom. The film ends with Olamma's sacrifice unacknowledged and the prince's fate hanging in the balance.
