Strange Proposal

Drowning in rent arrears, Ofure borrows from her friend Nengi, whose body pays the bills. Nengi suggests Ofure follow her lead, but the waitress refuses—until she meets Obio, a man shattered by catching his fiancée Sherry in bed with an older man. In the film Strange Proposal, Obio hires Ofure to pose as his girlfriend for a weekend at J's Resort. There, amid staged photos and candlelit dinners, the line between performance and truth dissolves. Ofure defends Obio when acquaintances Nelly and Pamela mock her waitress job, and Obio's friend Bayo observes their growing connection. They share intimate conversations and genuine laughter, helping Obio heal while Ofure tastes a life beyond her struggles. But Sherry reappears at the resort, claiming she was blackmailed into cheating and pleading for Obio to take her back. Ofure packs to leave, believing her job is done, but Obio asks her to stay. He gives her a sum far beyond their agreement, offering to help with her visa to Europe. Instead, Ofure returns to Benin, using the money to open her own restaurant—a dream she had long abandoned. Obio, realizing he cannot let her go, follows her. At her new establishment, he proposes marriage, admitting he needs her not as a substitute but as the woman he loves. Ofure accepts, and they return to the very resort room where their charade began. Now, as a real couple, they stand ready to make genuine memories—no pretenses, only promises.
