In Sanctum, Chima Obasi arrives at Corpus Christi Seminary to begin his vocation, defying his mother's desperate pleas to pursue medicine instead. The recent death of a seminarian named Emeka haunts him as he settles into a rigid routine under Rector Father Ignatius and the enigmatic Father Damian, who took a vow of silence during his own seminary years. Chima bonds with fellow seminarians Tayo and Dominic while learning of a pattern of unexplained deaths and a restless spirit tied to the seminary's past. Strange occurrences intensify when a woman named Adaora exhibits violent possession, books flip open on their own, and graffiti with cryptic dates appears on walls. Tayo is found strangled by a female entity in tattered white, witnessed by his girlfriend Funmi, and Dominic dies shortly after under similar circumstances. Chima, plagued by visions of Emeka and guided by Father Damian's cryptic warnings, investigates the seminary's archives and discovers a covered-up crime involving a woman named Agatha whose dreams of becoming a nun were destroyed by the seminary's fathers. Adaora is revealed as Agatha's vessel, possessed and exacting generational vengeance. Father Damian confesses to Chima that they concealed the truth to protect the institution, but the spirit's wrath has intensified, claiming three lives in three weeks. Chima and Father Damian form a fragile alliance to stop the killings, defying Father Ignatius's lockdown orders. Chima locates Adaora in a graveyard where Agatha's spirit confronts them, declaring her intent to expose the seminary's sins in broad daylight. Father Damian is killed at the gravesite, his body left behind. Chima, now expelled by Father Ignatius for breaking rules, recruits a skeptical senior seminarian Emeka to perform an exorcism. They prepare ritual items including incense, thurible, candles, and a cross, and confront Adaora in a locked room.
