Oma's Truth

Oma and Nduka are married, and a 350,000 naira debit alert brings him home upset. In Oma's Truth, Oma waves off the debit as her own shopping, and the argument convinces Nduka that she is ashamed of his auto-repair work. He makes breakfast and pitches a plan to expand his workshop to company vehicles, and she backs it. Temisan, Oma's cousin, returns from London to stay, and Oma asks Nduka to speak only English and act polished. She presents him to her family as a wealthy engineer, so Nduka refuses to perform and escapes at dinner to eat semo and soup. Oma calls him a bush man. Driving with Temisan, Oma sees Nduka argue with a bus conductor over 100 naira change, so at home she slaps him and calls him a tout. Nduka says he only wanted his change back, and Oma complains that Temisan's stay keeps stretching. Her mother then phones Nduka to arrange an engineering job for a relative. A young man arrives at the garage asking for Mr. Nduka and finds a grease-covered mechanic. Nduka asks why she lied, and he lists her attempts to change his clothes and speech. Oma apologizes, but Nduka is too hurt to listen, so he walks out and spends the night in bars. He grows close to a woman named Vicky. Oma believes Nduka is cheating and tells Temisan, but Temisan says Oma invented a false husband for her family. Vicky refuses to let things turn romantic and urges Nduka to give Oma a second chance, but Nduka tells Oma nothing is her business. Oma raises 7 million naira through an office loan, shows her colleagues his business plan, and rents a bigger workshop. When Nduka asks where the money came from, Oma admits she hurt him and wants him as he truly is. She reveals she is pregnant, so Nduka holds her, and they laugh and dance together.
