My Class Teacher

Chinedu runs a successful plumbing supplies business but he cannot read. His wife Ego transfers seventeen million naira from his account by exploiting his inability to read documents. Humiliated and furious, he enrolls in Primary Six at a local school and joins Miss Koi's class where the children stare and laugh at his presence. His sister Uju arrives unannounced with excessive luggage, and Ego refuses to welcome her, and creates tension between the two women. Chinedu struggles to balance his business obligations with school, frequently arriving late and missing tests, so the principal warns him about his commitment. He scores zero on a science test and cannot solve a basic equation on the board. Miss Koi reprimands him for using his phone during class. During a ride home he reveals the seventeen million naira loss and Miss Koi, impressed by his courage, agrees to become his private tutor. Their lessons progress from phonics to complex vocabulary and Chinedu shows genuine improvement. He asserts control over his business by confronting employees Nosa and Emeka for disturbing him during school hours and he demonstrates his newfound literacy by correctly spelling million and reading a contract independently. He passes a makeup test with nice improvement and earns praise from Miss Koi. His sister Uju visits again and playfully encourages a romantic connection between him and his teacher, noting their chemistry. His friend Ekenne reappears after a year away and they commiserate over Ego's betrayal because she has been spotted in Abuja looking haggard and the stolen money is likely squandered. Chinedu's confidence grows and he helps a customer calculate figures at his shop while jokingly referring to himself as a professor now that he can read. Miss Koi visits Chinedu's home for a tutoring session that evolves into a flirtatious intimate moment. They share wine and dance playfully and exchange affectionate banter.
