Biography
EARLY LIFE
Ekene Mfoniso Nna-Udosen was born on 13 October 1995 in Enugu State, Nigeria. His father, Mr. Nna-Udosen (from Akwa Ibom State), passed away in 2008. His mother, Mrs. Ngozi Nna-Udosen (from Anambra State), remains a central and supportive figure in his life. He is the only son among four sisters and grew up largely surrounded by women (mother, sisters, aunts), which strongly influenced his later creative style and character work. He was raised primarily in Onitsha, Anambra State, which shaped his fluency in Igbo language and deep familiarity with Igbo culture (he does not speak Ibibio fluently despite his paternal heritage). As a child he was relatively calm and indoor-oriented, often watching television (National Geographic, BBC, Cartoon Network, etc.), which helped develop his English diction and observational skills. He initially aspired to become a doctor or astronaut and later considered Mass Communication, but followed his mother’s preference for science-related paths.
CAREER
Kenzy began exploring performance around 2014 by hosting events (including at the Rotaract Club of the National Metallurgical Training Institute). He created the Madam Theresa character in 2018 while studying at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The character is a composite inspired by the women around him—his mother, sisters, aunts, a dramatic secondary school teacher, and broader observations of Nigerian/African motherhood and Igbo cultural traits. Early content included opera-style singing (inspired by Josh2funny) and “Ndumodu” advisory-style series before the full Madam Theresa persona took shape. His breakthrough came in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic with the viral skit “Hand Sanitizer Isn’t Body Cream,” which significantly boosted his visibility. He is known for blending sharp humour with practical advice, fashion commentary (including more recent “fashion police” reviews from an Igbo mother’s perspective), and cultural storytelling. He draws inspiration from creators such as Steve Chuks (Cleopatra Williams character), Maraji, and others from the early social-media comedy wave. Beyond skits, he works as an actor (credits include The Judge (2022 TV mini-series, as Eze Mmuo 1), Smokescreen (2023), All’s Fair in Love (2024, as Tamuno), and other projects), event host/compère (including high-profile pageants), and voice-over artist. He has received recognition such as a nomination for Best Online Social Content Creator at the 9th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2023. He views content creation as a legitimate, lucrative career that requires discipline, consistency, and diversification, while using his online platform to open doors in traditional entertainment.
PERSONAL LIFE
Kenzy keeps his private life largely out of the public eye. He is unmarried. He has occasionally addressed speculation about his sexuality (stemming from his frequent portrayal of female characters), maintaining that his work is purely artistic and for entertainment/educational purposes, inspired by real women in his life rather than personal identity. His mother has been publicly supportive, comparing his cross-dressing comedy to performers such as Eddie Murphy and Tyler Perry, and she remains his primary supplier of costumes and wardrobe for the Madam Theresa character. He has spoken about reconnecting with his Igbo roots (including time spent in Owerri) and values family support. He has described himself as having been the calmest child growing up and continues to emphasize doing what is right for oneself and others.
Kenzy has highlighted the role of platforms like Facebook in growing his audience and supporting creators through tools and monetization features. He produces much of his own content (filming, editing, lighting, etc.), often spending several hours per video. He has expanded into fashion-related commentary and continues to evolve while retaining the core educational-comedic style of Madam Theresa. He remains active across major social platforms and is regarded as one of the standout voices in Nigerian digital comedy who successfully balances entertainment with cultural insight and advice.
