Just Like A Mirror

Flora raises her daughter Daisy alone in a low‑income housing complex while facing eviction and unpaid school fees. She asks her sister Esther for help but receives only frustration. With no other option Flora moves in with her aunt Mabel, who has also left her husband and struggles financially. In Just Like A Mirror, Daisy's father Maxwell reappears after ten years, now wealthy, and tracks Flora down through her mother. He arrives at Mabel's house demanding to see his daughter, and Mabel initially rejects him. Maxwell persists by showering Flora with money, paying Daisy's fees, and offering a monthly salary. Flora feels conflicted but Daisy longs for a father figure, so Flora accepts Maxwell's proposal after Daisy encourages her. Maxwell's fiancée Cindy discovers medical documents revealing his sterility and realizes his sudden interest in Daisy is driven by a desire for custody of his only possible child. Cindy confronts Maxwell and ends their relationship. Flora later finds the same documents and understands Maxwell's true motive. Feeling betrayed she attempts to flee with Daisy but Maxwell locks her in the house, creating a tense hostage situation. He threatens to make her look over her shoulder for the rest of her life if she denies him access to Daisy. Neighbors including Mabel, Godfrey, and Eddie intervene by threatening to involve the police and the EFCC. A chaotic confrontation follows with Maxwell brandishing threats and the neighbors standing their ground. Eventually Maxwell relents and allows Flora and Daisy to leave but insists on maintaining a presence in Daisy's life through financial support and visitation. Flora and Daisy return to the safety of Godfrey and Mabel's home where Eddie offers Flora protection and companionship, hinting at a new beginning. Maxwell, now alone after Cindy's departure, visits Daisy one last time and explains that he and Flora are not married but assures Daisy of his love and continued financial provision.
