Ndidi, a nurse, lands at the Houston, Texas airport and is met by her friend Lulu, a nurse who has built a life in America. Lulu drives her to a new house, where Ndidi claims the residence and declares herself a full American resident. Her friend agrees to let her stay but complains about the multiple jobs she works to keep up the lifestyle. The next morning, Ndidi wakes singing the national anthem with small flags, dreaming of buying a six-bedroom mansion within six months. When Lulu reminds her that her nursing license has expired and suggests she needs training, Ndidi takes offense and storms off. Lulu then shows her an interview appointment letter for a caregiving job and coaches her to answer questions directly, but Ndidi ignores the advice. The interviewer asks basic questions, and Ndidi rants about her Nigerian background, her singing talents, and how she raised six siblings. The overwhelmed interviewer cuts the meeting short and dismisses her. An angry Ndidi blames the system for failing her and quits the work before it begins, calling it beneath her status. Determined to live large, Ndidi borrows Lulu's nursing license and lands a caregiving position caring for an elderly man named Mr. Jenkins. During her shift, she eats his food and records a TikTok dance video inside the house, which Mr. Jenkins' daughter, Ludia, later confronts her about. Ndidi also makes professional mistakes, including applying the wrong heating balm to her patient. Her behavior ends when Ludia catches her straddling her father during a diaper change, and she is fired on the spot. Shortly after, Ndidi is pulled over for speeding and given a ticket, and she admits to Lulu that she used her friend's papers. Lulu breaks down in tears, terrified that the violation will ruin her nursing record, and she demands Ndidi pay the fine while packing her things to leave.
