Hearts At Stake

At a tense family dinner, Jennifer learns she is to marry family friend Dennis in an arrangement engineered by her parents, threatening financial ruin if she refuses. Secretly in love with Furo, she confides in her cousin Seyi and plots an escape, eventually fleeing with Furo on their wedding day in the dramatic events of Hearts At Stake. The humiliation pushes Dennis's family into a business crisis, compelling him to accept a marriage of convenience with Isioma, a woman he barely knows, to save face and finances. Initially, Dennis treats Isioma with cold resentment, longing for the life he lost, but her unwavering patience and genuine care slowly chip away at his defenses, fostering an unexpected warmth between them. That fragile peace is upended when Jennifer, battered and rejected after Furo turns abusive, returns home only to be turned away by her own father and seeks refuge with Dennis and Isioma. She quickly begins to manipulate her way back into Dennis's heart, orchestrating intimate moments and dismissing Isioma's presence, culminating in a stolen kiss that a devastated Isioma witnesses before walking out. With Isioma gone, Jennifer moves into the bedroom, believing she has triumphed, but her victory is short-lived as Furo, now violent and unhinged, tracks her down.
