Festus, haunted by a childhood memory of his father's bankruptcy, controls every kobo in his household, leaving his wife Elina humiliated and without means for basic needs. He berates her for burning rice and counts her sanitary pads, while she secretly longs to work. During a gathering with friends, his stinginess is mocked, but he defends his methods. Elina confides in a friend about her misery, but Festus refuses to allow her to seek employment, insisting on his role as sole provider. A new neighbor, Ken, moves in and begins offering Elina small kindnesses—money for groceries and a wig—which she accepts out of desperation. Elina's mother visits and sees her daughter's decline, urging Festus to let her work. Ken goes further, offering Elina a job at his company. Festus grows jealous when he sees the wig and confronts her. Elina demands autonomy, threatening divorce after a heated argument. Festus's friend Dan warns him he is losing his wife. Ken directly advises Festus to value Elina, revealing that his actions were meant to make Festus see what he was neglecting. The climax comes when Elina refuses to drive the old car Festus bought her, comparing him unfavorably to Ken. Festus's mother intervenes, insisting Elina should be allowed to work. Festus breaks down, confessing his childhood trauma: his father's ruin from mismanagement instilled a deep fear of waste. He admits his love for Elina and agrees to change. They reconcile, and Elina gets a job as marketing manager at a company, with benefits. Festus proudly supports her new career. The film ends with the couple celebrating her success, having found a new balance in their marriage, though the scars of control remain.
