Crazy Matilda

Married to Martin, Matilda's laziness strains their Lagos home and supermarket. She sleeps late, neglects chores, and argues that stress justifies her neglect. Martin criticizes her; she accuses him of treating her like house help. The tension peaks when Matilda bursts into his meeting to ask for dish soap money, then forgets their second anniversary while his secretary buys him a cake and gift. Friend Elvis advises Martin to act. When Martin asks for a 500,000 naira loan for rent, Matilda refuses, claiming she has no money. He visits the supermarket, finds it nearly empty, and confronts her mismanagement. After a bitter fight, Martin orders her to pack and leave. Matilda moves out, certain he will beg. Instead, her mother scolds her harshly, forcing Matilda to change. She starts a small POS business on the street, working long hours and sending Martin daily sales reports. Over four months, she grows the business, pays off debts, and becomes responsible. Martin watches from a distance, proud of her transformation. On her birthday, he stages a fake kidnapping with hired men to surprise her, then reveals he has fully restocked her supermarket as a gift. The terror of the kidnapping fades when she sees the restocked shelves. They reconcile, and Martin declares he loves the new Matilda. She returns home, taking up household duties, scrubbing the kitchen, and preparing breakfast for Martin. He appreciates her efforts, kisses her forehead, and promises to wait for her always. The film closes with a joyful birthday party; Matilda, surrounded by friends and family, smiles and vows never to revert to her old ways.
