Compliance

The movie "Compliance" starts at night. Lily is standing alone on a dark street. She is angry because her friends, especially Maya, left her at a club without money to go home. A man named Mr. Seyi sees her and offers help. Lily is scared at first but agrees to go to his house because it is late. At his house, Mr. Seyi is polite. He sleeps on the couch and lets Lily use the bedroom. The next morning he buys her food and asks for her phone number. They start dating. They go for romantic dinner, laugh, hold hands and kiss. Mr. Seyi asks Lily to be his girlfriend and she happily says yes. Suddenly everything changes. In school, a new teacher enters the classroom — it is Mr. Seyi. Lily is in school uniform and they are both shocked. He is now her teacher. Mr. Seyi quickly ends the relationship. He says a teacher cannot date a student. It is wrong. Maya hears them talking and suspects something. She tells Lily’s mother. Lily’s mother becomes very angry. She goes to Mr. Seyi’s house and accuses him. Later she goes to the principal and demands that Mr. Seyi be fired. The principal listens to Mr. Seyi’s story and refuses to fire him because the relationship started before he knew Lily was his student. At school, Mr. Seyi stays professional. He warns a boy named Stanley to stop flirting with Lily. Lily still misses Mr. Seyi and sends him messages, but he tells her to focus on her exams. Lily’s mother decides to send her away to live with her uncle so she can prepare for final exams. When Lily is packing to leave, Mr. Seyi comes. They hug and say goodbye. He encourages her to study hard and become a nurse. Four years later, Mr. Seyi is at home when someone knocks. He opens the door and sees grown-up Lily with a suitcase. She has graduated and got a job. They are very happy. They embrace and kiss. Their love has survived the long wait.
