Storyline
Emeka’s life is misery: broke, freshly dumped by Mimi in the office, car dead, no bonus, even neighbor Shina hounds him for Christmas levy. On Christmas Eve, raging against the season’s fake cheer, he stops for a stranded Santa that 26 others ignored. The old man (Richard Mofe-Damijo) knows his name and birthday, and grants him one wish. Emeka asks for “a life that makes sense.” He wakes in a mansion. His mother is elegant and rich, planning UK holidays instead of village weddings. A lavish birthday party awaits: Shina is now his trendy cousin, annoying Kamsi his doting sister, and he’s engaged to Esther—the pharmacist who once stopped him from buying sleeping pills by sharing she was conceived through rape yet chose joy every day. Everything is perfect, yet wrong. Emeka has no real memories with these loving strangers. Their affection feels counterfeit because it’s built on a man he never was. The money, cars, status none satisfy him. Craving something authentic, he finds the “real” Esther still working at the same pharmacy. He woos her again from zero: Sip and Paint, romantic dinner, falling harder for the woman whose strength once saved him. Luxury without struggle proves empty. On December 26th he jolts awake in his old cramped flat—still poor, still bonus-less. But his heart is new. He pays Shina with a grin, hugs his stunned boss, vows to fix salaries, then drives straight to Esther. This time he asks the real her out, eyes bright with hope. She smiles and says yes. The wish came true after all: Santa didn’t change Emeka’s world he changed Emeka. Christmas was never the enemy; his bitterness was. And now it’s gone forever.
