Akunne

Zoba, a keke‑driving accounting graduate, secures a promising job in another state. In Akunne, his lover, Monica pushes her toward wealthy Remijus, and he buys the family's loyalty with lavish cash and rice. Her sister Juvita falls gravely ill, and Remijus pays for the surgery and demands marriage as repayment. Cornered by greed and desperation, she agrees to a traditional union that soon becomes a cage of control. Remijus forbids her from working, rations food and electricity, polices her movements, and deletes her social media accounts. He humiliates Juvita during a visit, screams over a single pack of juice, and threatens to send her back to her father's house. When she attends a job interview against his orders, Remijus locks her out of the house at night. Monica witnesses the cruelty but initially defends the marriage, and she demands that her daughter consider repaying Remijus. Monica cracks and admits she pushed the marriage out of greed, and she apologizes for leading her into a trap.
