Ajoke

Ajoke is a poor single mother who fights often with her neighbor, Nneka, though Nneka still helps her with food. Ajoke is struggling to win a court case for her late husband's land and has no money. Her daughter, Nimi, gets very sick. Nimi has asthma and collapses. The hospital says Ajoke must pay 2.4 million naira for a surgery to save Nimi's life. She only has 48 hours to find the money. Nneka is very kind and gives Ajoke all the money she saved for her own IVF treatment. Ajoke's salon friends collect 200,000 naira for her. Her friend Purity gives 350,000 naira and suggests Ajoke join her in prostitution to get the rest. Ajoke is shocked but, desperate, she almost agrees. She even meets a client but runs away because she cannot do it. She also runs from a fake job offer that was actually a kidnapper's trap. Ajoke prays and cries, feeling hopeless. Luckily, the doctor pities her and allows the surgery to happen even without full payment. Nimi has the operation and recovers well. Soon after, Ajoke's lawyer calls with amazing news. The land dispute is finally over, and a company will buy the land for 35 million naira. This money changes Ajoke's life completely. In the end, Ajoke sends money to Nneka to thank her. The movie ends showing that Nneka also finally became pregnant.
