African Husband

Audrey and Michael share a comfortable life with their young daughter, but their marriage fractures over the question of having more children. Michael wants to expand the family, while Audrey remains traumatized by severe health complications from her first pregnancy that nearly killed her. She resists intimacy and seeks support from her friend and doctor, Frieda, but becomes pregnant anyway. Desperate to avoid another dangerous birth, Audrey pushes for an abortion and eventually locates a surrogate named Yvonne, bringing her home without consulting Michael. When he learns of the plan and that she intended to collect his sperm using a female condom, he accuses her of theft and demands she leave. Audrey's mother, a devout Christian, meddles by praying over her, but Audrey angrily rebuffs her. The couple separates, and Audrey's friend comforts her. Michael remains distant until Audrey stands on her car roof outside their home, yelling apologies, which softens him. They attend therapy together and slowly rebuild trust. Audrey gives birth to a son, and Michael joyfully announces the news. They bring the newborn home to a celebration with balloons, their daughter, and a bouquet of roses, embracing as a reunited family.
