Biography

EARLY LIFE

Eniola Badmus was born in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. She completed her primary and secondary education in Ijebu Ode. She studied Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan and later obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics from Lagos State University.

CAREER

Badmus began acting around 2000. She rose to national prominence in 2008 with her role as “Gbogbo Big Girl” in the Yoruba film Jenifa (alongside Funke Akindele) and in Omo Ghetto. These performances established her as a distinctive comedic and dramatic presence in both Yoruba and English-language Nollywood productions. She has appeared in numerous films, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Blackberry Babes, Angelina, Small Chops-related projects, Swallow, Gangs of Lagos, One Lagos Night, Tiger’s Tail, Palava, Akpe: Return of the Beast, and many others. She has worked as both lead and supporting actress and has also been involved in scriptwriting and production. In addition to acting, she has served as a brand ambassador for companies such as 9mobile (Etisalat), Western Lotto, Indomie, and Peak Milk. She is active as a social media influencer and content creator with a large following. In May 2024 she was appointed Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas) on Social Events and Public Hearings. She publicly confirmed the appointment and has since been active in the role.

PERSONAL LIFE

Badmus is known for keeping her private life largely out of the public eye. She is a practising Christian and has spoken openly about personal transformations, including a significant weight-loss journey (from around 170 kg to about 90 kg) that she publicly shared in recent years.

Eniola Badmus has received several awards and nominations, including Best Actress of the Year (Yoruba) at the City People Entertainment Awards (2014), recognition at the Best of Nollywood Awards, Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards, and others for comedic and supporting performances. She has faced occasional public controversies (including legal threats against defamatory allegations) but continues to maintain a strong presence in entertainment and has expanded into public service. She remains one of the more recognisable faces of contemporary Yoruba Nollywood and a visible personality in both entertainment and political circles.
