More Than Words

Tife works for an escort agency to fund her ailing mother's hospital bills and her first client Jide takes her virginity under cold transactional terms. The next morning Jide discusses the encounter with his doctor friend and dismisses its significance. Tife returns home devastated. Her friend who arranged the booking is horrified to learn Tife was a virgin and tries to cancel the agency contract. Tife soon secures a legitimate job as an office assistant at a corporate firm and discovers her new boss is Jide himself. He recognizes her immediately but proposes a strictly professional relationship though her name has stuck in his memory. Tife later discovers she is pregnant but Jide, believing himself medically impotent due to a past injury, denies paternity and treats her cruelly. Tife leaves his house and returns to a meager life selling food on the street. Jide's mother, a formidable but compassionate woman, takes Tife into her home over Jide's furious objections and insists on a DNA test. The test confirms Jide is the father but before he can process this Tife's mother passes away in the hospital. Grief-stricken Tife prepares to leave because she believes she has nothing left. Jide finally confesses the full truth: a school bullying incident left him impotent and his ex-girlfriend left him when she wanted children.
