Storyline
The story unfolds in the Oyo Empire, narrated by Oyemekun, Ga'a's son, who becomes Alaafin. Ga'a starts as a warrior defeating the Nupe clan, enslaving the m and rising to Bashorun after a major victory. He marries Zainab against his family's wishes, revealing his ruthless nature. Obsessed with power, Ga'a uses voodoo and manipulation to install and assassinate multiple Alaafins who oppose him, including poisoning them or forcing suicides. He appoints his sons as governors, expanding his control. His tyranny escalates, killing his son's lover to regain mobility after paralysis from a curse. Oyemekun, initially weak, grows resentful. The nobles, fearing Ga'a, eventually unite against him. In the climax, Ga'a is betrayed, paralyzed again, and publicly executed by dismemberment in the marketplace, ending his reign of terror as good triumphs over evil
