Storyline
The film opens in a busy Nigerian neighborhood where Ken, a tech worker suffering from insomnia, shares a home with his girlfriend Clara. A chaotic encounter at Mama Nkechi's bar leads to the hiring of Nura, a househelp who arrives to find the house empty and contacts Clara for guidance. Clara warns Nura about Ken's reclusive nature, and Nura begins an aggressive cleaning regimen that disrupts Ken's work schedule. Despite the friction, a bond develops as Nura cooks for Ken, returns his lost smartwatch, and recounts folktales about jasmine flowers that herald death. Ken's mother and brother Osagie exert control over his finances and relationships, imposing a strict uniform on Nura and forbidding her signature makeup. Nura becomes entangled when Ken seeks her advice on his failing relationship with Clara, and she bluntly criticizes his neglect. Later, Clara visits with an injured ankle after a landlord dispute. She pressures Ken to move her to the island, but Ken cites financial constraints while secretly purchasing land in Ogudu using savings managed by his mother. Ken's mother pushes Ken and Nura toward a romantic arrangement, but Nura resists because Clara exists. Osagie flirts with Nura, and Clara grows suspicious of their closeness. A night of shared horror movies ends with Clara discovering Ken and Nura asleep together, though she feigns acceptance. The fragile peace shatters when Ken's mother and Osagie lure Nura to a family shop and accuse her of conspiring to steal Ken's money. In a climactic confrontation, Ken, manipulated by his family, publicly accuses Nura of theft, finds a packed bag in her room, and threatens police involvement. Nura pleads innocence, but Clara unexpectedly sides with Ken's mother, advising Ken to distrust Nura and revealing the mother's history of financial exploitation. The argument moves to the family shop, where Ken's mother declares no woman can be trusted except herself, and Osagie brands Ciara a prostitute.
