Embers Of Love

Shade runs a small food shop, tirelessly supporting her boyfriend Chinedu, a jobless graduate. Ignoring her mother's warnings, she has stolen money to pay his school fees. Chinedu prays for work while feeling the weight of unemployment. Meanwhile, Jessica, a CEO running her late father's company, reluctantly agrees to her mother's matchmaking but remains focused on her business. Chinedu is hired as Jessica's driver and becomes captivated by her wealth and beauty. He starts coming home late, raising suspicions in Shade and her friend Lola. Ignoring Shade's doubts, Chinedu grows closer to Jessica, eventually starting an affair. He moves into her mansion after she promotes him. Chinedu breaks up with Shade, claiming he loves his boss. Heartbroken, Shade decides to overhaul her appearance and attitude, encouraged by Lola. As Chinedu's relationship with Jessica deepens, she proposes marriage. But guilt gnaws at him; he realizes he still loves Shade, who stood by him in his darkest times. He confesses to Jessica that he cannot marry her because his heart belongs to Shade. Jessica, though heartbroken, tells him to leave. Chinedu packs and returns to Shade's community. He finds her outside her shop and begs forgiveness, admitting his mistake of chasing wealth and status. He declares he was unhappy without her. Shade angrily rebuffs him, calling herself his 'local girl.' Chinedu falls to his knees, sobbing and pleading for another chance. The film ends with Shade looking down at him, her expression softening, leaving the outcome uncertain.
