At Ease
At Ease is a pioneering psychological drama that addresses a serious and long-ignored subject in African filmmaking: mental health struggles and post-traumatic stress disorder among military veterans. It shows that even after a soldier returns home from war, the emotional and psychological wounds of conflict remain with them permanently. The movie explores how these invisible injuries continue to affect veterans’ daily lives, relationships, and sense of self long after the fighting has ended, offering a thoughtful and compassionate portrayal of trauma that goes beyond physical violence to examine the lasting human cost of war.

Storyline
Major Ifeanyi Agbo Dooga, a highly exceptional and revered leader in the Nigerian Army, leads a high-stakes special forces operation to rescue kidnapped girls from insurgents in Northern Nigeria. While the mission succeeds, a devastating bomb blast wipes out his entire team, leaving him as the sole survivor. He returns home to his young family to physically recover, but his invisible emotional wounds run far deeper. Plagued by severe survivor's guilt, intense nightmares, and violent hallucinations, Major Agbo flatly refuses therapy, causing severe friction with his wife, Lara. His untreated post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) reaches a harrowing breaking point when he unintentionally harms his own child during a psychological episode. With his family gone and his sanity completely shattered, Agbo must confront his inner demons and embark on a difficult journey toward mental healing and personal redemption.
