Trials Of Romanus

Romanus and Nkiruka live in poverty. One night he confesses that he helped his wealthy friend Michael cover up a fatal hit-and-run. Nkiruka reconnects with her successful friend Amara, who tells her to want more. Michael and his wife Rachel hire the couple as driver and housekeeper, and the jobs give them a taste of a better life. In Trials Of Romanus, Nkiruka starts to want that life badly. Michael makes an appalling request. He is infertile and desperate for a child, so he offers Romanus 25 million naira to sleep with Rachel. Romanus is horrified, but Nkiruka, driven by greed, convinces him to accept. They sign an agreement, and Romanus complies. Rachel becomes pregnant, and Michael transfers the money. Nkiruka pressures Romanus to return to Michael and demand more. They confront Michael and Rachel. The couple demands 75 million naira and threatens to expose his dark secrets. He reveals himself as Oscar Pace, a ruthless importer and exporter, not the mild-mannered Michael Lawson they thought. He turns on them, and his guards seize the couple. The guards bind them and throw them into a car trunk. A text message reveals that the police have surrounded the house, and armed officers storm the property. Oscar and his crew surrender. Their children are safe, but the couple risked everything for money and lost. The police apprehend Oscar and his men, and Romanus and Nkiruka are freed.
