Assistant Husband

In the movie Assistant Husband, Teni is forced into an arranged marriage with Femi Bello to merge two families and save her own family from poverty. Her mother, Mrs. Adeyemi, pushes her hard, making Teni feel like she is being sold. When Femi is away in London, his younger brother Jaiye acts as the assistant husband at the wedding and in public. At first, Jaiye and Teni are strangers, but they start to understand each other's loneliness. Jaiye confesses he is tired of pretending to be just a helper for his brother while doing all the real work. As they live in the same house, their feelings grow stronger. One night they share a passionate kiss, and Jaiye tells Teni he truly loves her. Teni is confused and scared because of the marriage contract and family expectations. The situation becomes more dramatic when the company board tries to take control. Mrs. Bello, Jaiye's mother, pressures Teni to sign papers that would give away power. Jaiye protects her and stops the signing. Later, at an important board meeting, Teni and Jaiye surprise everyone by announcing they got legally married that morning. This activates the unity clause and saves the merger. When Femi finally returns, he is not angry. He admits he never really wanted the marriage and is okay with Jaiye and Teni staying together. In the end, Teni stands up to her mother, refuses to be used anymore, and chooses real love with Jaiye. The story shows how two people trapped by family duty find courage to follow their hearts.
