EARLY LIFE
Yomi Fash-Lanso was born Oluyomi Fash Lanso on 7 June 1968 in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Nigeria. He is the youngest of five children (three brothers and two sisters). He attended Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri, Surulere, Lagos, and later earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos. Before entering the entertainment industry, he worked in the banking sector. In February 1995, he left his banking job to pursue acting professionally, marking the beginning of a prolific career in Nollywood, particularly in Yoruba-language films.
CAREER
Yomi Fash-Lanso is a veteran Nigerian actor with over 100 films to his credit, mostly in the Yoruba genre. He is widely respected for his versatility, professionalism, and ability to transform completely into his characters. He gained major recognition for his role as Dr. Femi in the 2012 film Omo Elemosho, for which he won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2014 NEA Awards (US) and received a nomination at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). He has featured in notable films and series including, Jenifa (2008), Dazzling Mirage (2014), Professor JohnBull (2016), Citation (2020), Wura (2023–2025 TV Series), Lakatabu (2024), Osoronga (2023), Atunwa (2023), Akudaaya (2023), The Party (2025). Yomi Fash-Lanso is credited with pioneering the push for higher fees in the Yoruba film industry. He is a strong advocate for royalties for actors, directors, and producers from successful films, supporting the work of the Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS). He has served as a Cultural Ambassador for the Olokun Festival Foundation and as Director of Public Relations & Media Affairs for TAMPAN (Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria). He is also the Project Manager for AHBEAWARDS. He is known for his philosophy that “success in Nollywood begins with self-control” and that a true actor must be able to switch roles completely — changing appearance, mannerisms, and expression to fit each character. He has emphasized the importance of demanding scripts, knowing one’s worth, and projecting one’s image beyond Nigeria.
PERSONAL LIFE
Yomi Fash-Lanso is married to Adetutu George, whom he met at a phone booth. They dated for four years before getting married in 2004. The union is blessed with three sons. He has described his wife as a supportive partner and has publicly stated that he has never cheated on her. In the past, he wore a fake wedding ring for years to keep female fans at bay. He has been romantically linked with several women in the industry but has maintained a stable family life. He is known to be very private about his personal affairs and has emphasized the importance of self-control and discipline in both life and career.
