Ibrahim Sulieman

EARLY LIFE

Ibrahim Suleiman was born on 25 September 1983 in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria, to parents originally from Edo State. He is the first of three siblings. His parents separated when he was about six years old, and he was primarily raised by his mother (along with strong family and faith influences) in Kaduna and later Abuja. The family faced tough years, but his mother worked hard (including taking a second job) to provide for them. He has described growing up in a close-knit household that emphasized sharing, honesty, kindness, empathy, gratitude, hard work, protecting one another, and frequent laughter.

CAREER

Suleiman studied Architecture at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and practised the profession full-time for several years (he continues to practise with a firm, Deep Space, alongside university friends). He began dancing at age 18 while at university, inspired by Michael Jackson’s 1995 MTV Awards performance. He danced professionally for about 11 years. His team, Soul Quest, won the Malta Guinness Street Dance National Championship in 2008, leading to international representation for Nigeria and brand ambassadorships (including Malta Guinness, MTN, Unilever, GTBank, and Peak). He appeared in numerous commercials. After his mother’s death, he stepped away from architecture and dance. He entered acting almost by chance around 2016–2017 when friends invited him to a set and he recorded an audition tape (initially presented as a camera test). He landed a role and became a regular on the long-running Africa Magic series Tinsel, co-starring with Linda Ejiofor. He has since become a prominent Nollywood face known for naturalistic performances. He is also a self-taught digital artist/painter whose works have been collected internationally, a writer, voice-over artist, storyboard artist for ads, and content developer. He has spoken about balancing roles he is passionate about with those that sustain him financially, and about increasingly enjoying villainous or complex characters.

PERSONAL LIFE

Suleiman is married to actress, model, producer, and director Linda Ejiofor (Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman). Their friendship existed for years before deepening significantly after the death of his mother in June 2016, during a difficult period when he considered leaving Lagos. Friends (including Linda) encouraged him to stay. He later joined the cast of Tinsel, where their characters interacted as colleagues/lovers, and their real-life relationship grew. They have a son named Keon Iman Suleiman. He has spoken warmly about the advantages of being married to someone in the same industry (shared understanding of schedules and career demands) and the motivation fatherhood gives him to be his best self. He values presence as a husband and father, contrasting it with his own childhood experience of parental separation. He continues to practise architecture alongside his entertainment work and has held solo art exhibitions.

Ibrahim Suleiman is a multi-hyphenate creative who has successfully moved between architecture, professional dance, acting, visual art, and writing. He emphasizes authenticity, hard work, positivity, and intentional living. His journey from Northern Nigerian roots and architecture into mainstream Nollywood, combined with his high-profile marriage and artistic pursuits, has made him a recognizable figure in Nigerian entertainment and culture. He continues to expand his work across film, art exhibitions, and related creative fields.
