Biography

EARLY LIFE

Enebeli Elebuwa was born on February 14, 1947, in Ukpane, a community in Utagba-Uno within Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. He belonged to the Ukwuani ethnic group. His father died when he was 10, leading him to move to Lagos at age 12 to live with a relative. He studied civil engineering at a technical school in Nigeria and later attended Television College in Jos for specialized media training. He also enhanced his expertise through production training at the BBC.

CAREER

Elebuwa joined the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in 1982 as a scenic graphic artist and retired in 1997. He began his acting career in 1974, debuting in the film Dinner with the Devil. He quickly became a prominent actor in Nigerian cinema, often portraying authoritative or paternal figures. He starred in over 130 movies, including notable appearances in Igodo, Issakaba, War Front, Domitilla, and Bent Arrows. He gained widespread recognition for his iconic portrayal of "Andrew" in an 1980s television commercial by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and later reprised the character in Veno Marioghae's hit song 'Nigeria Go Survive'. He also served as an assistant producer and director for the soap opera 'Mirror in the Sun' and directed the NTA program 'Twist Away'.

PERSONAL LIFE

Enebeli Elebuwa was married to Jennifer Elebuwa, and they had four children: daughters Zaygaz, Koliseyemum, and Odiache, and son Oyemike. They resided in Ijesha-Tedo, Surulere, Lagos. He expressed a deep spiritual inclination, once stating he would have chosen to become a monk. He held a strong affection for family life and was protective of his children's career choices, not wishing them to enter acting due to its uncertainties. He also had interests in music, having sung with bands led by Victor Olaiya and Sunny Okosuns, and enjoyed jazz and gospel music. He pursued painting as a hobby until 1981. He had an estranged eldest son, Odinegwebana, born in 1974 to a woman named Ngozi, whom he last saw in 1974.
