EARLY LIFE
Lasa Amoro was born in Ile Ikoyi Odan, Ogbomoso, in Oyo State, Nigeria. He hailed from a Yoruba background, which influenced his early entry into the theatrical and later cinematic arts in Nigeria.
CAREER
Lasa Amoro was a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, bridging the gap between the golden age of Nigerian television and the boom of direct-to-video Nollywood films. He gained nationwide fame for his role as "Dandy" in the iconic NTA sitcom Basi and Company, which aired from 1986 to 1990. Amoro transitioned successfully into Nollywood, appearing in numerous English and Yoruba-language films, including, Issakaba (1999), Not Man Enough (2003), City of Kings (2006), Hatred (2001), Twin Brothers (2003), Mr. Trouble (2003), Heavy Rain (2004), and Love Boat (2001)
He passed away in 2009. His death marked the loss of a significant figure from the Basi and Company era.
