EARLY LIFE
Dan Nkolagu was born on October 12, 1937, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. He grew up in the Enugu region and developed a passion for acting that led him into the Nigerian film industry during its early video-film era.
CAREER
Dan Nkolagu had a long and respected career spanning several decades in Nollywood. He was best known for his authoritative and culturally rooted performances as elders and spiritual figures. His notable film appearances include, 40 Days and 40 Nights, Okada Man, Warrior’s Heart, My Vision, Midwife, Royal Doom, Alice My First Lady, Moments of Tears, Slave Warrior (2012), Idemili (2014), Dance of Grace (2016). He earned widespread recognition for bringing depth and authenticity to traditional roles in Igbo movies.
PERSONAL LIFE
Dan Nkolagu was a family man and a committed Christian in real life. Despite frequently playing roles involving traditional rituals and juju, he personally frowned against voodoo and occult practices. He was survived by his wife and children, including his son Dan Nkolagu Jnr., who announced his passing. He battled health issues such as arthritis and prostate complications in his final years.
