Biography
EARLY LIFE
Benjamin Olaye Junior was born in Benin City, Edo State, into the family of the late Benjamin Omuruyi Olaye (popularly known as BENJOF or “the magic feet sensation”) and Mrs. Angela Olaye. His father was a prominent entertainer and TV producer/presenter of the programme Beat Wave in the old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States). He died in 2018 at age 64. Olaye is the third of six children (four sisters and one brother). His siblings include Mrs. Julie Idemudia, Mrs. Bernadette Bristol-Alagbariya, Miss Blessing Olaye, Prince Osamudiame Olaye, and Miss Itohan Olaye. He developed an early interest in entertainment, inspired by his father’s legacy, and began writing stories during his secondary school days. He has cited actors such as Ramsey Nouah, Pete Edochie, and the late Sam Loco Efe as influences.
CAREER
Olaye is a versatile Nollywood actor, dancer, and model who has appeared in numerous films and series (sources note over 40 credits). He also works as an acting instructor at the Benin Film Academy (BFA) and co-founded Bdots Studios (B-Dots Entertainment), which handles film, dance, adverts, and media productions, along with The Faculti (focused on modeling/pageant instruction, event planning, fitness, and choreography). He gained wider notice after winning Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s Invasion 1897 Online Monologue Challenge in 2020 (out of hundreds of entries), commemorating the director’s 25 years behind the camera. This led to roles in Imasuen’s projects, including For the Love of Isiuwa. Some of his film credits include: Esohe (2017) The Lost Okoroshi (2019) Son of Mercy (2020) Enakhe (Africa Magic series) For the Love of Isiuwa Blood of Enogie Home Coming (2023) Fatbulous (2023) Conjugal (2025) Deepend Reflection (2025) Troubled Soul, In the Pursuit of Love, The Oba’s Daughters, Omera (TV series, as Prince Ameh), Intentional Mistake, and others. He continues to work steadily in both English-language and culturally rooted Nollywood productions, often collaborating with established producers and directors.
PERSONAL LIFE
Olaye maintains a relatively private personal life. He is not married and has no children. He has confirmed being in a serious long-term relationship, though he does not publicly share details or photos of his partner. He is a Christian and is based primarily in Lagos while maintaining strong ties to Benin City, Edo State. He has spoken about his desire to focus on becoming a great actor rather than chasing fame, emphasizing humility and continuous growth in the craft.
Olaye is recognized for his multi-talented background as an “all-round entertainer” combining acting, dance, modeling, and teaching. He has expressed commitment to mentoring young talent through the Benin Film Academy and building sustainable entertainment ventures via his companies. He remains active on social media, sharing career updates, film promotions, and motivational content, while keeping personal relationships private.
