Mistaken

Kendrick, a successful businessman, gets a call from his mother asking him to house Chimamanda, a 23-year-old graduate. He believes his mother is sending him a bride, so his friend and business partner suggests putting her on a salary. In 'Mistaken,' when Chimamanda arrives, Kendrick gives her 75,000 naira a month despite her protests. His ex-girlfriend Valerie shows up claiming Kendrick invited her to chase away the village wife, but Kendrick rejects her advances. Then his mother returns and reveals the real reason: Chimamanda's father's debts would force her into marriage. Kendrick feels guilty and treats Chimamanda with kindness, so they grow closer. Later, Chimamanda's mentors, UJ and AJ, who had welcomed her as family, relocate abroad. She becomes withdrawn and locks herself in her room. Kendrick confronts her and learns that UJ and AJ were like adoptive parents, not romantic interests. He apologizes for his earlier judgments, and he realizes he has fallen in love with her. When he tries to express his feelings, Chimamanda sees him only as a big brother. With his mother's encouragement, he plans a birthday dinner for Chimamanda to win her heart. Kendrick gives Chimamanda a gift at her birthday dinner and convinces her to spend the night. They grow intimate, and he makes her breakfast in bed the next morning. They confess their love and begin a relationship. Kendrick's mother watches approvingly from the staircase as the couple embraces.
