Woman King

In Woman King the king of Ezan dies and his daughter Princess Chidinma runs the kingdom for seven months securing medical equipment and defending lands. She asks the elders to install her but they refuse because tradition forbids a woman on the throne. Then Sylvester arrives claiming to be the king's secret son raised in obscurity. The elders bound by a deathbed oath name him prince and fast track his coronation in two weeks dismissing Chidinma's lifelong grooming. Chidinma refuses to yield and proposes a public contest giving Sylvester three months to win the people before the kingdom chooses. The Queen Mother hires Obinna, Chidinma's childhood rival now fallen on hard times, offering fifteen million naira to make Chidinma fall in love and abandon her ambition. Obinna takes the post but his genuine competence and shared history spark a real romance. During the contest Sylvester's arrogance and violent outbursts alienate staff and public. Chidinma uses social media and community work to build support. She demands a DNA test before any coronation. The results show Sylvester shares no blood with Chidinma and the king's cousin is the true heir. Chidinma discovers her mother paid Obinna and banishes him. Obinna returns confessing the money tempted him but his love is real and predates the deal. He says he wants her throne or not and Chidinma forgives him reclaiming her resolve to rule. With Sylvester exposed as an impostor and stripped of titles the elders acquiesce to Chidinma's ascension. She takes the throne with Obinna as consort. A time jump shows the Queen heavily pregnant walking arm in arm with Obinna through the palace grounds and their banter reflects equal partnership. She teases him calling him my son and he replies with devotion calling her the most beautiful queen. Together they ascend the palace stairs into their shared future as rulers of Ezan.
