In Mother & Son, Fola lives in his late father's house with his mother and poses online as a motivational influencer named FlowKing while doing little actual work. His mother nags him daily about his laziness and dirty habits and lack of income, and their shouting matches intensify when she mocks his fake job and he insists on the value of networking. A power outage ruins his nighttime content shoot, and his mother refuses to fund generator fuel, leaving him stranded. Desperate to push him toward responsibility, she arranges a meeting with three women who turn out to be sex workers, setting him up as a gigolo. She later feigns a financial crisis by claiming the bank will repossess their home to teach him the value of money. When Fola discovers the deception he erupts and calls her wicked. She retaliates by telling his love interest Evelyn, a childhood friend returned from abroad, that he stole his late father's anniversary jewelry for her. Humiliated, Evelyn rejects him, and his mother admits she engineered the poverty charade to force him to grow up. Pushed to a breaking point, Fola attempts to flee a hotel but assaults a staff member who questions his departure and returns home bloodied. His mother continues to berate him, but a phone call from a friend she manipulated forces Fola to confront his delusions. In a moment of clarity he secures a legitimate corporate job as a client service manager and earns a promotion that requires relocation. He returns home to apologize sincerely, kneeling before his mother, who prays over him in a tearful reconciliation. With his new career established, Fola prepares to move out, and his mother, though heartbroken, blesses his departure as necessary for his growth. Evelyn, now running a digital marketing agency, re-enters his life, and the two rekindle a genuine connection. The two women, Fola's mother and Evelyn, celebrate together over a game of Ludo, receive a joyful video call from Fola.
