Mo-Faya
Mo Faya is a pulse-pounding Kenyan crime drama streaming on Netflix, centering on Zawadie (Lorna Lemi), a determined young woman rebuilding her life alongside boyfriend Brian (Brahim Ouma) in Kenya's gritty underbelly. As they chase dreams amid gangs, cops, and shadowy deals, survival hangs by a thread. Brian's loyal friend Kevin (Tobit Tom) adds heart to the mix, with high-octane shoot-outs and tense investigations blending telenovela flair and classic crime vibes. It's a raw look at ambition clashing with danger.
Storyline
Mo Faya dives straight into action, following Zawadie and Brian's bid for a new beginning that spirals into criminal mayhem. From episode one, Zawadie grapples with her mother's death, evolving from terrified newcomer to a bold criminal rallyer by the finale though her growth feels scripted and foreseeable, echoing tired tropes. At the core are Brian and Kevin, whose friendship drives the plot. Brian's secret criminal connections unfold predictably, leading to betrayals that savvy fans spot early. The real gut-punch hits in the penultimate episode: cornered by police at Nairobi University, Kevin flashes a devilish smile, draws his gun pointlessly, and meets a brutal end in a hail of bullets, embodying that classic outlaw's defiant exit. But it rings hollow Kevin's charm shone in quieter family scenes, making him seem less reckless than Brian, whose arc as the brooding lead falls flat due to Brahim Ouma's stiff performance.
