Storyline
Lami and Ore begin their marriage with joy and a shared desire for children but their first pregnancy ends in a miscarriage at six weeks. Medical assurances find nothing physically wrong yet years of infertility follow. Ore becomes desperate for IVF while Lami hesitates citing cost and uncertainty until he eventually agrees. The IVF attempt fails and Ore falls into a postpartum depression so severe that her friend Wumi takes her away for a change of environment. She returns transformed after a women's conference acknowledging her bitterness toward God and recommitting to the marriage. The couple begins experiencing identical recurring dreams in which a man carries a baby away from Ore. Their pastor advises Lami to share the dream with his wife and they pray to cancel it. Ore's mother and a fellow prayer warrior engage in intense deliverance sessions inadvertently labeling Lami an enemy within which drives him to a breaking point in his faith. On their sixth anniversary Lami embarks on a forty-day fast for answers. A home invasion by armed robbers shatters their peace. Ore is raped by two men while Lami is forced to watch. Traumatized she attempts suicide and takes abortion pills but the pregnancy persists. She begs Lami to keep the assault secret and he agrees though the secret festers. Ore confronts Lami revealing he witnessed her rape and demanding an abortion even if it costs her life. She collapses from the pills and Lami revives her pouring out his soul in a raw monologue about reaching his emotional capacity after six years of absorbing turmoil. He pleads with her not to kill the child asking God for accountability and declaring he will not commit further sin. Ore shaken asks for a constant. Months later a heavily pregnant Ore prepares for a quiet naming ceremony but is visibly distressed. After the baby Joba is born a nut allergy diagnosis prompts Lami to secretly order a paternity test.
