Avante

Be warned this part has spoilers so if you do not want to know the story stop reading now. The Nollywood movie Avante tells a tale of revenge mixed with love. The main character Gaju has a painful past. A bad man killed his parents years ago. Gaju wants to punish him. He disguises himself as Albert and gets a job as a farmhand on the remote estate of the killer. His plan is to infiltrate the family and take revenge. At first it goes as he wants. But then he meets the daughter of the killer. She is kind and he falls in love with her. This was not part of his plan. Now Gaju faces a hard choice. He must decide if he will continue with his revenge or choose the love and the new life he has found. The love challenges his ideas of justice. The film shows his inner struggle between anger and love. Chimezie Imoh gives a strong performance as Gaju. He shows the conflict in his eyes. Kingsley Okafor plays the ruthless general who is the killer and he is very convincing. The other cast members like Patience Ujah, Eddie Watson, Maliya and Ruth Nkweti support the story well. Director Toka McBaror brings the emotions to life with beautiful scenes. The remote setting adds to the tension. Avante is not only about revenge. It explores how love can change a person's destiny and questions what true justice means. You will be left thinking about the big choice Gaju has to make. The movie hits cinemas soon so go see it.
