A Father's Crime

In A Father's Crime, a 2014 street scuffle ends with Mary killing Samson while defending her husband Felix Uzodinma Anebe. The police arrest Felix for the murder, and the court sentences him to life imprisonment for manslaughter. Mary, pregnant, is devastated. A friend reminds her that Felix made this sacrifice out of love for her and their unborn child. Eleven years pass. Mary lives with David, a successful man, and raises Victory, the daughter Felix has never met. David's mother moves in and belittles Mary as a single mother using David. Mary keeps refusing David's marriage proposals because she still feels bound to Felix. When Felix is released early for good conduct, he appears at Mary's door. Mary introduces him to Victory as her biological father, and Victory is angry. She refuses to accept him and insists David is her only father. Felix pleads, says he went to prison for a crime Mary committed to keep their family together. Felix keeps returning to see his daughter, and David tells him to stay away. Felix insists Mary is still legally his wife and Victory is his child. In a private meeting, Mary kneels before Felix, apologizes, and offers him her life savings. Felix forgives her, says he holds no grudge, and gives his blessing for her to marry David. He asks only for the right to see Victory whenever he wishes, and Mary agrees. Felix and Mary embrace. Mary returns to David and reassures him he is her soulmate and she cannot trade him for anything. Mary and David embrace, and Felix walks away with the check still in his hand.
