EARLY LIFE

Sophia Chisom Ikemba was born on 12 May 1999 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. She hails from Nnewi in Anambra State and is of Igbo descent. She is the first child and only daughter among five surviving children (with four younger brothers); two siblings passed away earlier. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ikemba. She has described herself as a shy, solitary child who faced bullying at times, partly due to her small frame. She completed primary education in Port Harcourt and attended secondary school at Anglican Convent Secondary School, where she served as Social Prefect. She gained admission to the University of Port Harcourt at age 16 and graduated with a B.Sc. in Political Science and Public Administration around age 19. She completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme on 21 July 2020, serving at the Ministry of Petroleum. Her early academic path pointed toward public administration or related fields, but she later pursued entertainment.

CAREER

Sophia first gained attention through Instagram around 2016–2017 by posting natural, no-makeup selfies that resonated widely. She began creating comedy skits more actively around 2020–2021 (during/after NYSC and the COVID-19 period), encouraged by her manager/creative director. Her signature character, “SOSO the Pure Water Seller” (or Pure Water Girl), portrayed a humorous street vendor selling sachet water and became one of her defining comic personas. She has collaborated with prominent Nigerian skit makers including Mr Funny (Oga Sabinus), Broda Shaggi, Brainjotter, Carter Efe, and Nasty Blaq. She transitioned into Nollywood acting, with her film debut linked to Silver Digger (2023) and roles that sometimes referenced her pure-water character. Subsequent credits include Sabinus the Best Man (2023, as Mimi), My Fake Celebrity Boyfriend (2024, as Kome), Uno: The F in Family (2024, as Ada), Love, Sex & Pain (2024), The Chase (2024), More Than Marriage (2025), My Version of Love (2025, as Naya), Something to Live For (2025, as Remi), Short and Sweet (2025, as fashion designer Ify), Falling Notes (2025, as Zachi), Star Boy (2025, as Sade), Wheels of the Heart (2026, as Chidinma), and others such as Lost Pages, Behind the Glamour, and additional titles listed across databases. She has worked to avoid being typecast solely in comedy, seeking roles in romance, drama, and broader genres. Parallel to acting and content creation, she runs the culinary brand Taste With Sophy / SOSO Delicious, featuring recipe and food content. She has modeled and secured brand partnerships. In 2026 she won the Best Digital Content Creator award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) alongside Kanaga Jnr for the project Leave To Live.

PERSONAL LIFE

Sophia is not married and has no children. She has indicated she is in a relationship but keeps her partner’s identity private. She maintains a relatively low-key approach to personal disclosures compared to many peers, preferring to keep private matters out of the public eye. She is a Christian. She has spoken about the pressures of fame, including assumptions of wealth and constant availability, and about managing criticism and online engagement. She resides primarily in Lagos and has expressed interest in eventually owning a physical restaurant alongside her online culinary brand.
