Biography

EARLY LIFE

Ntuthuzelo Prince Grootboom was born on 1 July 1998 in Zwide township, Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape, South Africa. He grew up in a close-knit family that valued hard work and creativity. His mother, Noluthando Grootboom (a nurse), has always been his biggest supporter. He has one younger sister and one brother who is a musician. From a young age, the vibrant township culture and arts scene inspired him. At age 12, he discovered his passion for dance and began mastering hip-hop, contemporary, traditional African dance, Dance-Fit, and hip-hop in heels.

PERSONAL LIFE

Prince is engaged to fellow actress Rorisang Mohapi (known for Gqeberha: The Empire and House of Zwide). They met on a dance floor in 2022 and got engaged on 5 October 2025. Their wedding is planned for early 2026. He is known for being humble, grounded, disciplined, and deeply spiritual. He enjoys gym workouts, prayer, travelling, reading, chess, and watching movies. He is an ambassador for the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund.

CAREER

Prince began his career as a professional dancer, performing across South Africa with various groups. He appeared as a lead male dancer at the South African Music Awards, on Idols SA (Seasons 14 & 15), and in music videos and corporate events. He also worked as a cheerleader and performed push-up routines for the Natal Sharks rugby team. His acting debut came in 2021 when he was cast as Makhekhe in Netflix’s dance series Jiva!. This led to his first major television role as Xhanti Ximiya in uBettina Wethu (Season 4). He gained international recognition in 2023 with the role of Jacob Tau in Netflix’s Fatal Seduction (Seasons 1–3). His biggest break was landing the starring lead role of Prince Melisizwe (son of King Jonginamba KaMajola) in the fantasy telenovela 1802: Love Defies Time (1Magic), which premiered on 1 May 2023. He also stars as Mawethu in Inimba. He is represented by Star Quality Agency and continues to balance acting with his dance background.
