Patrick Onyeocha

EARLY LIFE

Patrick Onyeocha was a student at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, when he entered the film industry.

Patrick Onyeocha joined Nollywood in December 2005 while still a university student. An acquaintance informed him of an audition needing a white man who could speak English and Igbo to play a priest character in the movie Captain. He initially had reservations about acting but accepted the role for the payment. He acted alongside veterans Nkem Owoh (Osuofia) and John Okafor (Mr. Ibu). After some initial nervousness and stiffness in the first two days of filming, he improved significantly and completed the two-week shoot. His ability to speak fluent Igbo as a “white man” role surprised many people when the film was released, earning him praise and respect in the industry. He also took a role in Bitter Rain (2021). He has not pursued acting as a full-time career from the start but has continued to take selected roles.
