Biography
EARLY LIFE
Majid Michel was born on September 22, 1980, in Cantonments, Accra, Ghana, to a Lebanese father, Michel Erawack, and a Ghanaian mother, Paulina Olympio. He is the youngest of ten siblings. He attended St. Theresa’s Primary School and later Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast. During his secondary school years, he was actively involved in the school's Drama Club, where he won a Best Actor Award for a performance on Emancipation Day.
CAREER
Majid Michel began his professional career as a fashion model in the early 2000s, joining the Super Model Agency. He made his television debut in the Ghanaian series Things We Do for Love (2003-2016), playing the role of Shaker, a young Lebanese professional, which earned him his nickname. His feature film debut was in the 2004 romantic drama Divine Love, where he starred as Maxwell Darkho alongside Jackie Appiah and Van Vicker, which made him a household name in Ghana. He expanded into Nollywood with the 2009 romantic drama Emerald. Other notable films include Agony of the Christ (2008), Silent Scandals (2009), Guilty Pleasures (2009), Bursting Out (2010), Somewhere in Africa (2011), and 30 Days in Atlanta (2014). By 2017, he was earning between $15,000 and $35,000 per film. Around 2016-2017, he began reducing his acting commitments to focus on his Christian faith, stating he would no longer participate in on-screen kissing scenes.
PERSONAL LIFE
Majid Michel married Virna Michel in 2005 after meeting on the set of Things We Do for Love. They renewed their vows in 2015 and have three daughters: Keira, Zara, and a third whose name remains private. The family maintains a low-profile life in Accra. In 2016, Majid experienced a religious conversion to born-again Christianity and publicly identified as an evangelist. He preaches at churches and emphasizes biblical teachings on faith, purpose, and leadership. He has spoken against drug experimentation, alcohol, smoking, premarital sex, and advocates for tithing. He is also involved in humanitarian efforts through the Majid Michel Foundation (MMF), supporting underprivileged communities and promoting youth empowerment.
