Storyline
Bella is a love and marriage coach in a strained marriage. In Bella's Blues, her husband Kenneth resents her for not giving him a child, calls her a 'steel womb', and dismisses her career. Her friend Susan visits and pleads with her to leave, but Bella clings to the hope of fixing the marriage, believing divorce would destroy her professional reputation. Kenneth begins flaunting his mistress Mandy in their home, even bringing her into the bedroom while Bella watches. He hands Bella divorce papers and tells her to sign. When Bella falls ill and throws up, Kenneth assumes she is pregnant and becomes affectionate, sending Mandy away and spoiling her with gifts. He arranges an antenatal visit, and Bella confesses she was never pregnant. Kenneth erupts in anger, makes her sign the papers, and orders her out of the house. Bella starts a new life. Femi, a single father, has pursued her with kindness and patience, and their relationship blossoms. During an outing with Femi and his daughter Laura, a man from Kenneth's circle confronts Bella, calling her a barren woman and a failed marriage coach. Femi defends her, then professes that he loves her regardless of children. He proposes, offering a future together, and Bella accepts. She becomes a warm presence in Femi and Laura's life. She writes contentedly about her healing, and she says leaving that toxic love was the bravest thing she ever did. Bella, Femi, and Laura leave together as a happy family, carrying a picnic basket.
